Welcome to the GBDA 412 Blog

Updated: Nov 4

Hi! My name is David Han. I'm the course director for GBDA 412: Special Topics in Digital Culture - Site, Place, and Media Architecture.

This course is a 4th year course offered by the University of Waterloo's School of Interaction Design & Business. This year, I've challenged my students to work in teams to propose, design, and deliver an interactive media installation that focuses on past, present, and/or future, non-human activity in the Stratford area.

Each student research, developed, and pitched an idea for a project. From all of these ideas, 12 were chosen by the class to be developed into fully-fledged projects. At the end of the term, the 12 projects will be presented to a jury who will select 3 to be displayed on the facade of the Stratford School as part of the 2024/25 Lights On Stratford: Winter Festival of Lights.

This site will track the development of each of the projects by aggregating some of the various development posts from each of the project websites.

The students and I are all very excited to see the projects take shape. I hope you'll join us and check back often to experience the creative energy and innovative minds of GBDA 412!
